One week from Tromsø: Senja, Lyngen and beyond

A week from Tromsø normally covers Kvaløya, the Lyngen fjords and the eastern side of Senja without long open-water passages. Distances are short enough that a day's plan can change with the forecast and still reach an anchorage before evening.

Choose a route from Tromsø: sail southwest to Senja's coastline, head north into the Lyngen Alps, or explore the islands of North Troms. Each route offers 100–180 nautical miles, sheltered anchorages, and hiking, fishing and wildlife along the way.

Route 1 — Senja: Sail southwest from Tromsø through Gisundet to Senja. The outer coast has jagged peaks and turquoise bays. Highlights include Hamn i Senja, the Segla and Hesten peaks, and the white sandy beaches of Ersfjord and Bøvær.

Route 2 — Lyngen Alps: Head east across the fjord to the Lyngen peninsula. The Lyngen Alps rise to nearly 1,900 metres directly from the water, with hiking in summer and skiing in winter and spring. Sheltered bays sit at the foot of glaciers and peaks.

Route 3 — North Troms islands: Explore the sparsely populated islands north of Tromsø. Reinøya, Vanna and Arnøya offer remote anchorages, good fishing, and sightings of white-tailed eagles, otters and seals. Few visitors reach these islands.

All routes can be combined into longer itineraries. A two-week charter allows time for both Senja and Lyngen, or for the North Troms islands combined with a crossing to Lofoten.

Tromsø has direct flights from Oslo, Stockholm and London. Our yachts are moored in the city centre, a short taxi ride from the airport.
