The Lyngen Alps rise steeply from the fjords, their snow-covered peaks accessible only by boat. Our Ski & Sail expeditions combine world-class backcountry skiing with yacht-based travel — 24 carefully selected summits ranging from easy to extreme, from 850 to 1,834 metres. Each day brings a new peak, a fresh descent, and a warm meal waiting back on board.
The concept is simple but brilliant: a sailing yacht serves as your mobile base camp, moving you between trailheads that would otherwise require hours of driving on narrow mountain roads. Each morning you step off the boat, skin up a new peak, and ski back down to the water's edge.
The Lyngen Alps offer terrain for every ability level. Beginners can enjoy mellow glacier runs with wide-open bowls, while experts tackle steep couloirs and exposed ridges. The snow conditions are often excellent — cold Arctic air combined with maritime moisture creates a deep, stable snowpack.
Our guides are certified mountain professionals with intimate knowledge of the local terrain, weather patterns, and avalanche conditions. Safety is paramount: we carry full avalanche rescue equipment, make conservative route choices, and always have the yacht as a warm, safe retreat.
The season runs from February to May, with different conditions offering different experiences. Early season brings deep powder and short days; late season offers longer days, corn snow, and the chance to ski in the midnight sun.
