One Week from Tromsø: Senja, Lyngen and Beyond

    Back to Articles

Choose your own adventure from Tromsø: sail southwest to Senja's dramatic coastline, head north into the world-famous Lyngen Alps, or explore the wild islands of North Troms. Each route offers 100–180 nautical miles of spectacular scenery, hidden anchorages, and endless possibilities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife encounters.

Route 1 — Senja: Sail southwest from Tromsø through Gisundet to Senja. Explore the dramatic outer coast with its jagged peaks and turquoise bays. Highlights include Hamn i Senja, the Segla and Hesten peaks, and the white sandy beaches of Ersfjord and Bøvær.

Route 2 — Lyngen Alps: Head east across the fjord to the Lyngen peninsula. The Lyngen Alps rise to nearly 1,900 metres directly from the water, offering world-class hiking (summer) or skiing (winter/spring). Anchor in sheltered bays at the foot of glaciers and peaks.

Route 3 — North Troms Islands: Explore the wild, sparsely populated islands north of Tromsø. Reinøya, Vanna, and Arnøya offer remote anchorages, excellent fishing, and the chance to see white-tailed eagles, otters, and seals. Few tourists ever reach these islands.

All routes can be combined into longer itineraries. A two-week charter allows you to explore Senja and Lyngen, or to combine the North Troms islands with a crossing to Lofoten. The possibilities are as vast as the landscape itself.

Tromsø is easily accessible with direct flights from Oslo, Stockholm, and London. Our yachts are moored in the city centre, making the transition from airport to adventure as smooth as possible.
