Ski by boat in Lyngen, Lofoten and Svalbard

Enjoy a week of skiing and sailing adventures in Northern Norway during springtime. Later, in early summer we offer the exceptional experience of skiing and sailing on Svalbard.

Sail in the fjords, start skiing from the snow covered beaches and climb summits with amazing views. Enjoy the freedom in untouched powder-snow and off-piste back to your yacht. We use the boat at base and can go to destinations only reachable by the sea way. While you rest after a long day of skiing the boat takes you to new and unexplored destinations.

With several hundred summits just lying there, all dedicated off-piste skiers will manage to fulfill their dreams in these alps. The different areas offers a variety of possibilities and challenges so you will always find a summit to conquer that fits your personal ambitions and fit.

Late Febuary to early June

Lyngen (or the Lyngen Alps) is the skiers Mekka. With summits up to 1800 meters, you find an endless variety of challenges. Glaciers can be explored, island can be traversed especially the island north and east of Lyngen will make your trip well worth it.
Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja offers excellent powder trips. You will find all the challenges you can imagine in this area and the view is magnificent. The mountains are in general steeper and lower than in Lyngen, around 800-1000 meters high. The season often ends in mid March.

Our skippers have a unique knowledge of the area and will be able to take your guests to breathtaking locations, secret hideaways and local happenings.

All groups must be accompanied by a certified guide and if not arranged by the group a certified guide (UIAGM i.e.) can be provided upon request.

Our goal is also to let our guests experiencing the local culture and eat high quality local food, all meals are prepared and served on board. You live and sleep on board and explore during the day.

The Yachts:

Our two Delphia 47 or Bavaria 51 are all spacious and comfortable with 5 cabins and 10 berths (double and singles). The saloon has comfortable seating for the guests, drying closet and ski garage. Alternatively we have 4 cabin yachts with 8 berths for smaller groups such as 4 cabin Delphia 40.

For the more comfort seeking adventures we offer Norway largest catamaran; our Arctic Aurora. A Salina 48 with 4 large cabins with double berths, two single beds in the hulls and 4 bathrooms with showers on board. With a 360 degrees view of the surrounding from the 12 square meter saloon and a larger seating area found outside. This is a very special boat; luxurious, but still with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Bare boat:
Safety is our main priority! Due to demanding conditions and dark season local knowledge and long experience with sailing in the arctic is crucial for a pleasant and safe journey. During winter and spring we only offer skippered charters. Bare boat can be rented from May 19th.

Skiing on Svalbard - the ultimate adventure!

Svalbard is an island in the middle of the sea, close to the north pole. There is only one city there; Longyearbyen with 2000 settlers. In addition you have Barentsburg, a russian mining city with 450 miners and Ny Ålesund, a research station with around 130 scientist (30 during winter). This is the wilderness and number of people are exceeded by the number of polar bears. Svalbard has a long history of whaling and hunting and has always had a very important political role between the lands of the north so you will find all sorts of interesting stories around on this island.

Skiing conditions:
As opposed to the coast of the Norway mainland, where the weather systems from the Atlantic is prevailing, the weather systems at Svalbard comes from east and are much "dryer". Svalbard is covered with glaciers, however these are often "cold glaciers" meaning that the stability and accessibility is ok for skiing during springtime when you can climb summits with amazing views and
njoy the freedom in untouched snow and off-piste back to your yacht.
The summits within reasonable reach are up to 1000m and offers a variety of possibilities and different degrees of challenges so you will always find a summit that fits your personal ambitions and experience level.

Ice conditions in the Ice Fjord and out in Forlandsundet is a factor that must be taken into considerations; however Trygghamna is always ice free and offers at least 3 great summits to climb. In Forlandsundet and further north, we will find several excellent and adventures mountains. Warning: Polar bears will be around and precautions must be taken.

The Skiing season is from May till mid June.

Getting there:
Start and stop is Longyearbyen with good flight connections to Norway. The airport on Longyearbyen is the only way in/out except for by boat. The airport is a 5 minute drive from the city, there is no trains and no roads other than the ones in direct connection to the city.

The Yachts:
For these expeditions we will be using either a 45 feet aluminum yacht with 4 cabins or Delphia 47 with 5 cabins. Both with all required equipment. The yacht is comfortable and "polar bear safe" and will accomodate 8 people in total, including skipper and guide. The saloon has comfortable seating for the guests.

Guide and Polar Bear protection:
All groups must be accompanied by a certified guide and if not arranged by the group a certified guide (UIAGM i.e.) can be provided upon request. A guide should have the local knowledge of the area and take all measurements for a safe and pleasurable tour.

There is also the safety on land that must be taken into consideration. Guide will need to know how to handle weapons in demanding situations. There are 3000 polar bears on Svalbard and they do provide an extensive risk whenever on shore. If you do not have the appropriate training and knowledge we are more than happy to arrange one for you.
