# Group Charter

Group Charter is a whole sailing yacht taken by a club, company, family or group of friends, with a skipper and crew provided. Everyone on board knows each other. We handle the boat, the food and the route, and shape the week around what the group wants to do together.

## One boat, or a small fleet

For groups of up to ten, one yacht is usually the answer. For larger parties we sail two or three boats in company: separate crews and cabins, shared anchorages, and dinner together ashore or on the largest vessel.

This works well for sailing clubs, company groups and extended families, where the point is being in the same place rather than in the same cabin. Boats can also split for a day, with the walkers on one and the fishing party on another.

With nine vessels in the fleet, we can usually match hull types so that boats sail at a similar speed and reach the same anchorage in the same hour.

## Planning a week for a group

Groups need slightly more structure than couples. We agree the outline before you arrive: how much sailing, how much walking, whether there is a fixed dinner somewhere, and what happens if the weather turns.

Food is part of the plan. The crew provisions and cooks, and we ask for diets and allergies in advance rather than on the day.

Company groups often add something ashore: a guide, a sauna, a visit to a fish landing station. We can arrange those, and we will tell you if a plan is unrealistic before you commit to it.

## A typical week

The route is agreed with the group and adjusted for weather. This is what a good week tends to look like.

### Day 1 — boarding

Board in Tromsø in the afternoon, cabin allocation and safety briefing.

An easy first sail so everyone finds their feet, then anchor and dinner.

### Days 2 to 6 — sailing together

A route agreed each morning, with passages of two to eight hours.

Time ashore for walks or a village stop, and time on board for people who want it.

Boats meet in the same anchorage in the evening when several are sailing in company.

### Final day — return

A final morning sail back to Tromsø.

Alongside around midday, with the afternoon free in town.

## Choosing the boats

Catamarans suit larger groups: more cabins, more deck space and a saloon that seats everyone. Monohulls suit clubs who want to sail properly. For mixed groups we often combine the two.

## Who this is for

- Sailing clubs and associations chartering together.
- Company groups looking for something other than a hotel conference.
- Extended families and milestone birthdays.
- Groups of friends who want a boat to themselves.

If your group has never spent a week in close quarters and half of them want a hotel, say so now. We would rather adjust the plan than have you find out at sea.

## Practical

### Fitness and experience

None required. Tell us about mobility limits and seasickness in advance so cabins and routes can be allocated sensibly.

### What to bring

Soft bags, layers, waterproofs and shoes with grip. Hard suitcases do not fit in a yacht locker.

### Cabins and privacy

Cabins are shared in pairs on most vessels. Sailing below maximum capacity buys everyone noticeably more space.

### Getting there

Most group charters start in Tromsø. Other departure ports are possible with notice.

## Questions guests ask

How large a group can you take?

Up to ten on one vessel, and more across several boats sailing in company. Tell us the number and we will propose a combination.

Can we sail more than one boat together?

Yes. Boats keep the same route and anchorages, with a skipper on each.

Is it suitable for a company trip?

Yes, and it works better than most alternatives. We can build in a working session ashore or on board.

What if some of the group cannot sail long days?

We plan shorter passages and more time ashore. A mixed-ability group is normal and easy to accommodate.

How far ahead should we book?

Six to twelve months for summer and ski season. Multiple boats on the same dates need more notice.
