# Northern Lights Sailing: A Photo Safari Under the Aurora

Imagine drifting beneath the aurora borealis while the night sky explodes in green, pink and violet. Our Northern Light Sailing trips from Tromsø are intimate photo safaris guided by experienced local crews. Far from city lights, anchored in sheltered fjords, you'll learn to capture the aurora on camera while enjoying the warmth and comfort of a modern yacht.

Tromsø sits right in the middle of the aurora zone at 69°N, making it one of the best places on Earth to observe the northern lights. The season runs from September through March, with the darkest — and often most spectacular — displays occurring between November and February.

Our experienced skippers know the local weather patterns intimately. We sail to locations where cloud cover is minimal, anchoring in fjords that offer both shelter from the wind and an unobstructed view of the northern sky. The yacht provides a heated, comfortable base from which to observe and photograph.

Photography guidance is a key part of the experience. Our crew helps you with camera settings, composition, and techniques for capturing the aurora. Whether you're using a professional DSLR or a modern smartphone, we'll help you bring home images that do justice to the spectacle.

Between aurora displays, you'll experience the unique atmosphere of the polar night — the deep blue twilight that replaces daylight during the darkest months. Coastal villages glow with warm light, and the snow-covered mountains create a dramatic backdrop that makes Northern Norway one of the most photogenic places on the planet.
